Shellac is an organic resin derived from an insect that feeds on certain trees in India and Thailand. The insect secretes through its pores a gummy substance, which hardens into a protective covering called lac. This raw lac is processed to make many kinds of lac products such as seedlac, bleached shellac and lac dye. Due to its specific characteristics, shellac can be applied to a wide variety of uses such as coating pills, fruits & vegetables and candies. It is used as a component in making phonograph records, sealing wax, fireworks, electrical insulators, hair spray, no-rub floor polishes and a finish for bowling alleys. With over 34 years of business operation, Creasia Mill is a reliable producer of lac products among customers. A half of its production is exported to many countries in the global market, with the majority of shipments destined for America, Europe and Asia.
